lucy-flawless replied to your post: Is there any type of birth control you would recommend for a female who regularly goes 2+ months without having sex (long distance relationship)? The obvious is condoms but I really dislike using them, I’m on the pill which works really well for me but it’s kind of annoying to take it every day when I know I’m not going to be having sex. Is there any other alternative?

Don’t you think hormone-secreting implants are a little extreme for someone who doesn’t have sex fairly often?

No I don’t. They are long-term hassle free birth control options and since the person who submitted the question is already taking the birth control pill it is most likely safe to assume they are okay with using hormonal birth control.

The IUD also has a non-hormonal option which I pointed out, although most people I know have more success with the side effects of the hormonal options. Although Implanon has hormones, it is a progestin-only option which many people believe lowers the risk associated with taking birth control and cancer.

Quite frankly, I do not understand what about any of these suggestions is extreme in the least bit.
