Women’s wages are key to putting food on the families’ tables and keeping roofs over their heads. When women’s salaries are short-changed, so are families’ incomes and our overall economy.
U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) responded to The Paycheck Fairness Act failing to move forward by a vote, largely on party lines, 52-47. The legislation aims to close the gap on women’s wages, since women still earn 79 cents to every dollar a man earns, by increasing protections for women filing gender-discrimination lawsuits and allowing employees to discuss their salaries openly.
