Hello everyone! As we are all rounding out our summers I figured now would be a great time to roll out some updates on all of the amazing new things going on at Because I Am A Woman. Check it out below:
Fem(inist) Art Fridays
Did you know I majored in Art History in college? From now on, I will be doing Feminist Art Fridays (or Fem Art Friday for catchier name purposes) as a regular feature. I envision it as a day to post art that is either made by oppressed groups (women, POC, LGBTQ, etc.) or art that deals with feminist issues. This art may be from any period of time or genre. Like other parts of history, art history is basically the history of white men in art, and I say not anymore!
Don’t worry, it won’t be all you are seeing every Friday. The posts will be mixed in with relevant current events and questions that really cant wait until the next day. Each entry will be tagged with “fem art friday” so that you can find it easily in a search. If you want to participate, feel free to submit any art you feel relevant and I will post it!
The Activist Community Calendar
This calendar is meant to be a space to share important dates, deadlines, and events in the feminist community. Feel free to submit an event, conference, scholarship deadline, or any other calendar related content. There are already a ton of really wonderful opportunities posted, check it out to see what is going on in your area!

Upcoming Giveaway
I was really hoping to do a giveaway in the month of August. Unfortunately, the goods I got to giveaway were lost in the mail and I cannot afford to replace them. However, I have been compiling safer sex care packages again and plan to do a back-to-school giveaway with up to five winners in the next two weeks. Keep your eyes peeled!
